Risen from the Ashes
On Sunday, January 14, 2007, a massive fire broke out at the big gray barn on Route 15 in Sparta housing Sparta Trades Kitchens and Baths and five other businesses. Happily, no one was injured in the structure, a former creamery more than 100 years old. But nine companies of more than 150 volunteer firefighters worked all night long to try to save the historic building.
Thus began an ordeal lasting more than 2 years, to demolish the destroyed structure and rebuild from scratch. During that interval, Sparta Trades reopened in a showroom built into two trailers moved to the same property.
Nationally, the number of small businesses that reopen after an event like ours is 13%, so it’s a testament to all involved that we proudly opened the doors to our new showroom of Sparta Trades Kitchens and Baths on October 1, 2010.
